Proper name [Swedish]

Audio: LL-Q9027 (swe)-Moonhouse-Falkenberg.wav Forms: Falkenbergs [genitive]
Etymology: By surface analysis, falk (“falcon”) + -en (“definite; plural”) + berg (“hill, mountain”). Possibly referring to the hill on which the present-day ruins of St. Gertruds church stand, whose highest part has, at least in more recent times, been called Falkaberget. The name may in turn have been borrowed from Dutch and German Falkenberg, as Dutch and German falcon catchers were already present in the area during the Middle Ages. First attested in 1298. The name may in turn have been borrowed from Dutch and German Falkenberg, as Dutch and German falcon catchers were already present in the area during the Middle Ages.\nFirst attested in 1298.",

The name may in turn have been borrowed from Dutch and German Falkenberg, as Dutch and German falcon catchers were already present in the area during the Middle Ages.\nFirst attested in 1298.",
